My husband and I don’t care about nightlife or entertainment outside of home. We want to move somewhere where rent on a 2-3 bedroom is around 6 hundred, but not to the ghetto. Any ideas?
what about just in Texas in general? any family oriented cities? even older cities?

Once you get outside the major cities and suburbs, housing prices come down and there are hundreds of smaller towns in Texas with good schools and a great set of values for raising children. Once you’ve been there for a time you’ll never want to leave. As a very rough rule of thumb anyplace under 25,000 in population.

I doubt that you can find anything that cheap in the DFW area without going to the ghetto as you say. If you can spend a little more, try Carrollton. Carrollton is just North of Dallas and fairly safe and relatively inexpensive - around 1000.

You should look North, in Plano, Frisco, Allen, or McKInney.
That is pretty cheap, but if you look around for good schools and pay more you should be happy.

Most one bedrooms cost around $600 a month. I have lived in Garland,Grand Prairie, Mesquite, and Arlington and apartments are not that cheap. You can get a 2 bedroom apartment in Denton for that price and it is a nice city to live in. It is about 45mins from Dallas but it has a nice small city feel and a great place to raise a family. I have friends from College that still live there. Have you checked Cleburne it is a small suburb of Fort worth. They have small town events.

You can’t find a 3 BR for that price in Dallas and you probably can’t find a 2 BR in a nice area for that price. I’m sure you could find what you’re looking for in Midlothian, which is 25 miles southwest of downtown Dallas. It’s a small town, but growing and a very friendly place with good schools.

I live in Plano in a neighborhood called Deerfield. Our house was around 400,000 and our neighborhood is very fun, we have things to do all the time. Around this are some schools, one is an elementary, another is middle school, and another is a junior high. The senior high school is a little farther but it is a comfy neighborhood. Look around the area of 75024. Neighbors are always nice and fun to hang out with so this is the perfect place to start a family!
