Zydeco music was an important discovery for me. Thanks to Sean, Chris and the warmth of the Ardoin family down in Lake Charles Louisana, I started investigating the roots of Zydeco music, then Creole music. Amédé and “Bois Sec” Ardoin were pioneers of that music, and I have always been a fan of folkloric music, traditional instruments, and performers that come from families of musicians. They carry the voice, the music and the message. Chris Ardoin is one of these people that used his talent to mix Zydeco with Rythm and Blues, Reggae and Hip Hop. He is now the rising star of this new “genre” of music. If you go down Louisiana, track him down. The video link I am presenting is a recording we did in 2007 down at his father’s house in Lake Charles. www.espritvoyageur.net
